Who would have thought creating a list of names of your family and friends and gathering their mailing addresses would be so difficult? Just kidding! Sharokina tells me this can be one of the most difficult parts of wedding planning.
I’ve been creating a guest list ever since Erik and I got engaged in July. We originally expected around 100 – 110 people… but boy, were we wrong! Today, as I’m gathering addresses, I have a little over 170 people on our list! Luckily, the ceremony/reception venue we’ve already booked has enough seating for 250. Let’s hope my guest list doesn’t climb that high!
Here is some advice for people creating their wedding guest lists:
- Try to get a guest list together before your book your venue. I was lucky that our venue’s capacity is as high as it is!
- Get people to help you! My mother-in-law-to-be has gathered a number of addresses for me.
- Don’t sweat the small stuff! In the end, the goal is to get your guests invited. There are a number of traditional wedding invitation rules to follow, but if you don’t like them, don’t follow them!
Wish me luck, everyone!
